No, avoid it - not good build quality, high failure rate. Advent are known for being a particularly poor line of laptops.

Use the "sub £350 laptops" stickied thread for much better ideas.

The specs seem good but IMHO I wouldn't buy Advent as RussJK said, they are generally bad build quality.
  • Advent are generally poor build quality. Usually if you pay peanuts you get monkeys! They give good specs but thats because they are probably using lower quality materials than the more premium brands. I would fork out the extra bit of cash to get something better. Ever more money for a lower spec is a better deal in the long run

  • theres no 'best ' make. dell have a lot of sh!te but some of their range is excellent. Same applies to Toshiba, and Acer and Asus and all of them. A good thing to do is find the ones you like, make a note of them and then do some searching for reviews online!

There's no "one computer for everyone". You have to look at your own needs in terms of screensize, speed, graphics, etc.

Some of grumpycrab's deals have been pretty good.

    hi again
well i have been to currys and i saw a lovely purple HP g6- 1012 sa
it was 479.00 and apparently its spose to be a great lap top ( and hey its purple )
i have told the sales assistant i will go and have a look on line to see if i can find it cheaper any where else.
i cant even find this lap top on line - the sales assistant did say it was a new model.
so please can someone with more knowledge than me give me advise.

Seems decent enough. I presume you wont be using it for anything too demanding?

There is nothing about that laptop that ever made it worth £479.
My opinion; leave it on the shelf.
