Although I love VOIP, and it is a great option in certain situations people should remember that in the event of a power cut, or broadband issues they may be left with no means of making a phone call in an emergency - even Vonage T&C's reinforce this:
"1.7 - You agree to inform potential users of the Service of the above limitations and you understand and accept that you should always have an alternative means of accessing 999/112 emergency services."
I certainly wouldn't be happy for my elderly parents to rely on VOIP/mobiles in an emergency, and would always ensure they had a "proper" fixed telephone line in case of power cuts/network problems.0 -
