Seller fees are a percentage of what the item actually sells for - therefore if you sell a CD at £4 ebay will take 40p from that sale thus making £3.60 profit - obviously we are not taking consideration of how much we actually paid for it 10 years ago but profit from the nothing we had before we put it on eBay - does that make sense? I've only had a few things sell for more than I bought for it originally (usually t-shirts - bought one for £8 wore it for 2 years and sold it for £16 :)) xxx

But then from that £3.60 you have postage to pay so that will take a chunk out of it
Lloyds TSB Student Credit Card - £650 - 3% min payment
    Orange via Moorcroft - £390 - £20 per month
Lloyds TSB Student Overdraft - £500
    Total debt: £1540

not if you work out the postage right and get them to pay for it. ie for a CD that'll be a large letter so you're looking at say £1.20 postage - that includes a piece of bubble wrap and a bit of bin bag (that's how I wrap stuff - sooo cheap, always get good feedback on how it's packaged) It's not hard to make money from eBay - as we have demonstrated :)

    Thats a good idea

Theres the monthly seller fees that worry me also though
I know that if I started using ebay i'd sell too much and have to pay loads as a monthly fee so thats quite worrying

    Re: discriptions for listings.

Well i try and make sure its got all the basic info in the listing.

    Size / measurments.
    Colour
    what its made of.
    Condition.
    What make it is.
Try and get as much info in the title as possible.

    So an example could be.

Title: SIZE 5 M&S BLACK LEATHER PUMPS, FLAT SHOES.

Discription : Great pair of black leather pumps from M&S,
lovely soft black leather, very comfy!
only worn on a few occasions, so very good condition.
    Ladies size 5 uk.

Lots more great items listed, so take a look! i will happily combine postage where possible.

    Thanks for looking, good luck!

So not a massive discription, but hopefully contains all the info, would also include as many photos as possible.
DO make sure if there are any problems with the item that you discribe that, and take a photo of the problem if possible

When buying nothing is more annoying for me than a poor discription and just one photo, especially in the catagories where 12 photos are free!

Thanks for the description tips misskaytee :T. Thanks everyone for all the general tips and info . Spent yesterday taking pix of clothing, think i could get a job as a professional photographer now! They were pretty creased so i had to iron everything before i could photo them and there's still more to do. Ok, must make mental note to actually open an ebay sellers account now :p.

You won't regret it hotspur_pam. I once sold a vintage t-shirt complete with yellow arm stains for more than I paid for it. It didn't have the stains when I originally bought it. It was a lovely top, and I was amazed at the price it went for! Years ago I made £1600 selling cds & records... they don't sell for that much now.
