You and me both....second night in a row I have been in floods of tears all night. I am starting to feel myself tumbling over the cliff edge.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

My daughter is 14 and severely autistic she also has learning difficulties she attends a SLD school. Life has not got any easier over the years, you get over one hurdle just to see another one approaching.
SingleSue, Mandymull, happy_lass ((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) for you.
Pm me any time ladies I am always willing to listen I may not have all the answers but its better out than in.
So far this week has been okay for me, possibly because my DD was in restpite at the weekend so I had some me time and quality time with the family. I did have a selfish moment though sat thinking that life should be getting easier now as both girls are getting older, but never mind my thoughts soon changed when I walked in her room and seen the pictures she has been doing covering her bedroom wall:)" I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"

I sit and think back to the old problems I used to have with them and think things have got easier....then I think of the problems now and think again!
That's a lot of thinking, which is probably not good for me. So it has become easier in some ways but a whole lot harder in others....
I don't have respite and ex hubby can't (or won't) cope with them so there are no breaks to recharge my batteries, everything I do, I have to take them with me...I can't even have people come to the house for a girly night and having a lovelife is an impossibility right now, no begger will have them so I can go out and actually meet someone new and even if I did, they wouldn't be able to come into the house (or they would but it would not exactly be romantic or chilled)
Sorry, feeling sorry for myself this week.We made it! i am lucky because i do get occasional respite care for her.Its not much but it is something.
I am currently seeing a counsellor myself cos i just feel so overwhelmed by everything at the moment. I have a son sitting his finals at uni and a daughter about to start college and dealing with charlotte on top of them too !! I work part time ( to keep me sane) , and i am cook, cleaner and chief bottle washer too ....lol
i am about to pick her up from her day centre and go to morrisons for the weekly shop. She is usually ok in shops but tends to put things in trolley that i dont want !! lol. Its a bit of a nightmare trying to explain to her that i dont want it, she has very very limited speech and usually ends up screaming full pitch. Not good in the middle of morrisons !! lol. Oh well ladies/gents, its nearly the weekend and my weekely treat of a bottle of wine on a friday night is in sight. Have a good afternoon all. :j:jlife is what you make it, make it fun !0 -
Single sue you are allowed to feel sorry for your self some times, god I know I have over the years. I have know idea how I would cope with out respite, she goes for 3 sleeps once every 6-7 weeks. I am lucky I have a supportive husband and a fantastic 16 year old daughter who are my support. I do not work as I have no one to take car of my DD whilst I did go to work during the holidays. It has taken over 2 years to get a support worker for her so she can attend some out of school activities during the holidays as she needs one to one.
Right best dash in to Sainsburys as she has an obsession with Innocent Smoothies at the moment, well ok not the smoothie but the so called 'Free magnets' inside and if I take her shopping a £1.99 purchase will turn into £££££££'s.
Hope morrisons goes well for you Happy lass" I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"
