don't know if this problem exists elsewhere but thought I would post anyway!
For a few weeks I have been getting a leaflet posted through my letterbox asking me to leave clothes outside for collection. The goods are then sold on cheaply, the leaflet claims, to people in poor countries.
the bottom of the leaflet does state thaht they are a bsuiness and not a charity, but on checking their Registration number, it transpires that the company is based in the South of the country (I,m in Manchester), and alos expired last year!
I am currently waiting a response from Companies House about the organisation, but in the meantime, if you do get a leaflet like this, please check all information before handing over any goods.

Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!

Pretty much all the leaflets we get like this (probably 1 a month) are the same.

Same here, I think there was something about this on Watchdog or something similar. Since I watched the program I've noticed that out of all the leaflets that have come through my door not one was for charity.0 -
We get one of these at least every two weeks.
I do my bit for the environment and recycle them.:D If I want to donate clothes I take them to a real charity shop.0 -
We often get them round here. Mostly for dissolved companies. Usually run by a Lithuanian couple in Essex, but sometimes a registered office at a residential address in Preston.
Sad thing is, my neighbours leave the bags out. If I see them, I usually have a word and offer to take the bags to the local charity shop.

How come most charities won't take clothes to give directly to the needy abroad because apparently it's not cost-effective to do so, yet some companies seem to be able to profit from them?0

We've started getting these up here in Scotland too. Scandalous if people are taking unfair advantage of other people's charitbale nature.0

The weird thing is that (at least on the leaflet I get) it does state that the company is not a charity, as though that adds some legitimacy to their activities.
Still not had a response from Companies House, so am going to my Trading Standards to see if they can speed things up.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
