Halifax multiple credit searches, 1 CC application

Hi,

Just wanting to share this.

I applied for the clarity card last August, was successful but they offered me 29.9% APR, I'm use to getting the best rates (was expecting 12.9%). Anyway, I accepted the card anyway as I pay in full and just wanted it for spending abroad.

Recently got my Experian credit report and found out Halifax had put 4 searches on my file (over a 2 day period) for my 1 application!

Just wondering if this could be a reason I didnt get the best rate as maybe they took into account their own credit searches against me. i.e. the application was decided based on the fourth search and the three early searches had counted against me.

Were they actual credit searches though or for different things such as anti money laundering etc.. ?
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

The highest rate is 21.9%. If you're paying 29.9% you should complain.

yep, all 4 searches are almost identical. I've contacted experian to dispute the searches as duplicate records of one search.

Doesn't sort out the 21.9% rate but that is probably to do with Halifax's opinion of my credit record and not these searches I guess......

You've done the right thing in contacting Experian, dont forget about Equifax & Call Credit though, have you spoken to Halifax about reducing apr ?

yep - Halifax won't budge on the APR. It'll only cost me a few £ when I go on holiday in the summer in interest on cash withdraws I guess.

I think with Halifax dont quote me but you can set up a payment ready for it to be cleared whilst your on holiday if you know roughly how much your going to spend but dont quote me on that.
