jsa for 18 year olds

My son is 18 and is going to be leaving school next month, if he cant get a job can he claim jsa?

    I doubt it. Why wait till he's finished to start looking got a job?

    If you (or anyone else) is receiving child benefit for him he won't be able to claim JSA until September.

    obviously he is looking now, but there is nothing for an 18 year old where we live

    no there isnt people like you talk out of your !!!!. I would not allow him to stay on jsa if there were jobs so dont say things when you dont know what you are talking about

    another prat. Years ago in our local paper there was a full page of jobs now there are about 3 jobs all the factories have closed because it is an hosiery area and all the shop jos are taken by adults

    I am sure there are industries your son could get into, it's just the luck of the draw really all i can say is keep him motivated to his search for work. How far is he prepared to travel? possibly the next town? Kids have the same here where i live where the traditional industries have either relocated to china or gone altogether.
