Do I Change My Line To LLU Or Stay As I Am ?

I’ve just received a letter from my broadband suppler Eclipse informing me that my connection will shortly be transferred to the LLU system, unless I opt out now.
Presently Eclipse supply me with their Evolution 1 up to 8 Mbps service, my line should support up to 4.5 Mbps, the fastest it’s ever been is 3 Mbps, it’s usually 2 Mbps dropping to 1 meg at peak evening times, from day one the line has been working without any disconnections or other problems, I can't really fault them.
The key benefits they state for changing to LLU are:
Faster speeds and enhanced performance.
Improved speeds and reliability.
Better service and performance management.
Faster fault fix times.
My question is; would I be better off staying as I am or transferring to the LLU system?
Any comments or personal experiences good or bad of your change to LLU be it Eclipse or any other ISP would be most welcomed.

A good place to ask would be here, you will get responses from people who have already done it:

and these threads may help you anyway:

You can opt out, on the letter it tells you a date you have to inform them by. I opted out in case I want to transfer to another ISP as I'm looking for a better deal for broadband, phone and mobile.
I usually get bet 7.5 and 8 mbps0 -
Thank you Lorian for your links to the adslguide forums, there were some interesting comments which surprised me slightly as normally the forums are full of gamers moaning about ping times and p2p downloader’s moaning about poor speeds, so I decided to post here to see what experiences ‘normal’ people have had.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

if it was me i would go LLU, if bt are providing the route for you at the moment your service may improve, how far are from your exchange ?0

kronas , I’m about 1 mile as the crow flies from my exchange so I would have expected a slightly faster connection speed. (Upto 8Mbps, bah humbug)
Eclipse states the LLU benefits are faster connection speeds etc. but I should be getting at least 4.5Mbps now!
The speed isn't a particular issue for me as I’m only a light user, mostly it's the fact that when you change to LLU you can't get a MAC code to change supplier if it all goes belly up (as it has with some people), but I understand that is all set to change in early Feb.
It's a shame Henry Ford wasn't in charge of the broadband system, at least we all would know what we were getting for our money.
What to do? decisions, decisions.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0
