Getting rid of slabs

The full slabs i could advertise as free to collect but i can see that people would struggle to collect as they are so heavy you could only take a couple at a time.
Do companies come and collect rubble for use as hard core?
Would this be to much weight for a skip?

yes they do. stick an ad in ebayAs is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.0

Advertise them first and see if someone is prepared to collect. They may have a friend with a van who can reduce the number of trips required. Either way, it's their problem, so long as they take them.
You could also enquire with a local builder/landscaper and see if they're interested or know someone who could be.
You don't say how many is "loads and loads", but a skip can take a lot of weight, just count the slabs and give dimensions to a skip hire company and they'll probably be able to tell you what size skip you need. That is the expensive option though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Try putting them on Free Cycle. Its free and with the bank holiday weekend approaching you may have a lot of interest.0

Try your local newspaper. If you say that the slabs are free for uplifting I'm sure someone will want them." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Freecycle or ebay.
Someone will collect them, no danger.
At least they will get reused and kept out of landfill and will cost you less in the process.0 -
Gumtree too, I have bought a large number of 3 x 2 slabs for £1.50- 2.50 each from Gumtree over the last few weeks. Its hard to find them where I am, they always go quickly. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

we had a similar problem with our garden slabs we managed to get rid of the whole ones but had loads of broken ones and as we were laying a lawn i decided to dig quite a few deep holes and place the broken slabs in them and use the soil to level off the garden for the turf, perfect solution for me0

Not really for small quantities.
The slabs will not be too heavy for a skip as long as you don,t neatly stack them in to save space, a neighbour once did this and he had to get another skip and chuck them in there as the skip could not be lifted.
Also possibly consider hiring a crusher to make your own hard core for the new patio.0 -

So are neatly stacked slabs heavier than randomly chucked ones?;)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
