Moving from BT to Plusnet query

Hey all

I am currently with BT Wireless for my broadband but want to move to Plusnet as it's much cheaper. I'm not very tech savvy so just wanted to know whether I would have to send back my current BT wireless router when I cancel it?

I can save £4.99 P&P from Plusnet if I have a compatible router already. I know my parents were told to keep theirs when it was sent by mistake by BT but they have passed it on to someone else so I can't use that.

I know I need to get a MAC code but is there anything else I need to sort out?

Many thanks

x

The BT HomeHub is locked to BT, some of the earlier ones can be flashed, but for £4.99 it's hardly worth the trouble.
Any ADSL modem router will work on Plusnet, you don't have to use one supported or supplied by them.
You are aware that Plusnet is owned by BT?

Just a thought-before you sign up with plusnet and get your dd organised etc, phone BT and ask for your MAC code and see what deal they offer you to stay! I contacted them and asked for MAC code(after applying to plusnet and setting up a DD) only to be offered a really good deal to stay so then had to turn around and cancel everything that I had started with plusnet.

Thanks for the reply. Yep I knew they were owned by BT which is why I hoped the HomeHub would work with Plusnet.

They have offered me half price BB if I stay but it's still cheaper to join Plusnet.
