Cost of replacing a Storage Heater.

Hi all, we have a faulty storage heater in our bedroom, its quite a large (about 3 feet long....), old one and it's never worked properly since we've been here (about 3 years.) We had an engineer look at it some time ago, but he just flicked the thermostat tripper thing and went. That night it clicked off again....I would love to replace it before winter comes in this year, as it gets truly freezing in our room. We have a similar sized one in the front room and my daughters room has one about half the size. My question : How much would I be looking at to replace a faulty storage heater? :)

    Use google £200.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Thanks for the reply, but I've been looking on Google for the last couple of hours....how did you come up with a figure of £200? Seems rather cheap.....

My parents bought a Creda 3.4KW for about £300 so for a medium sized one £200 sounds about right. You'll just need to re-use the cable from the old one as they tend not to come with a cable attached. And be warned, when removing the old one, they weigh an absolute tonne.

If you dismantle the old one yourself, older heaters may contain asbestos.

Cheers all. In relation to asbestos, according to this link it shouldn't be an issue, as the building is only about 17 years old. http://www.storageheaters.com/storage-heaters-asbestos.htm

So, about a couple of hundred for the heater. Any ideas as to the cost of getting someone to install the !!!!!!? :-P
