barclaycard and DCAs

ok. dont know if this is in the right place, please feel free to move if it isnt.

my youngest son lives with me. he has been having problems paying his barclaycard and because he now is working again and is mostly abroad, i have been trying to deal with this for him.

when he was first not working, we kept barclaycard informed and offered the token £1 a week but they wouldnt accept that. they also sent him forms to fill in for incoming and outgoings. all of this took a few months - barclaycard takes ages to answer anything.

a couple of weeks ago, now he is working again, he wrote to barclaycard, telling them that his situation had changed and that he could now pay them £25 per month by direct debit and would they be able to reinstate to direct debit that was in place before.

with me so far?????

last week, the day he wrote to barclaycard offering £25 a month,a letter came from mercers, saying that they were issuing a default, and the debt had been passed on to resolvecall.

in the letter that was sent to barclaycard, making the offer, he also wrote that he wanted the default removed. he had not been ignoring barclaycard at all and has been in constant contact with them.

today, i have got back from holiday, and he is driving abroad so no one has been here, and there is a card in door, delivered by resolvecall personally, saying that they had been here for him.

how can i stop this happening again?? and do i write to them, and to mercers, sending copies of the letters that have gone to barclaycard???? he has been dealing with barclaycard directly, throughout the whole thing.

really worried now that someone else is going to turn up. their card only gives a phone number, no address.

Mercers and barclaycard are the same company.Just write a letter to mercers requesting all communication via letter and provide them with the copies of the agreement and letter he has already made with barclaycard.

    Hi

I'm pretty sure they actually take it to the next level (personally tracking someone down.) As there website suggests they deal in live customer re-connection, live collection/recovery activity, information gathering, address verification and status enquiries.

I'd give them a call and inform them you are dealing with M. Was there a ref num?

why would they need to use this type of agency?? he has never ignored barclaycard and has kept contact with them, and kept them informed, every step of the way.

Your son is a big boy now, he works abroad. You didn't make him spend like crazy. So tell anyone who calls, that he is abroad. Give them his mobile number and tell them he no longer lives their. Your going to end up having bailiffs knocking at your door. Don't let them in. It's not your debt. It's time to let your son grow up. Harsh yes. But he's bringing you all this worry and should be sorting his own debts out. Don't say he can't contact them. He can, he can contact the folks he owes money to from anywhere in thw world. WRITE TO the compnay sending you letters and tell them not to contact you again. It's not your debt.

It's because they have given up on him. No doubt sold on his debt.
Barclays even sell bankrupts debts even when they know a person is clearly bankrupted.

Now stop worrying. Don't let anyone into your house. Tell any caller he no longer lives their. They will no doubt make all sorts of threats of court action. Don't panic, don't worry. If someone calls around just say he no longer lives here and goodbye. If they won't go call the Police. Sorry to say, your son should be ashamed of himself for all the worry he's put you through.

i dont mind helping him. i offered to help and can usually get things resolved, but have never had someone turn up before. and he actually didnt spend like crazy. the balance was only £300 but their charges hiked it up when he was out of work. and why did they give up on him?? barclaycard and him were in correspondence continually, right the way through; he was sent sheets to fill in about incoming and outgoing which were returned to barclaycard and agreed upon. and when his circumstances changed he let them know immediately. and formally made an offer of £25 per month by direct debit.

it looks to me like their various departments arent talking to each other.

the letters to mercers and resolvecall have gone this morning.

dont pay by direct debit they can take what they like.

If your going to pay this, set up a standing order. Do not use direct debit..
