If you're going to use Firefox, why not try out Pale Moon? It's a version of Firefox optimized for Windows and modern processors.

Specifically (if you *really* care), it's a build of Firefox compiled to exploit the SSE3 architecture.

I much prefer Firefox to any other browser I've used (although Mozilla, Netscape and Mosaic were good in their day!) and there are so many useful add-ons that I couldn't live without.

Having said that, I find that Chrome often performs better with the embedded videos you get on iPlayer, CatchUpTV, etc. so occasionally I'll fire that up.

Not sure I fully understand your post, but Palemoon looks interesting. Have you had any problems with it? Any add-ons that don't run, for example?

For Linux, the Konqueror browser is nice for its curiosity of obscure bells and whistles (e.g. browser ID spoofing) and Epiphany is nice for being super fast (in between crashes).

Used to need to do that in the early days of the browser wars, when certain sites would arbitrarily refuse to work with ...?Netscape ?Mozilla?

Some have said they don't like chartbeat for whatever reason and ghostery is an add on which blocks it.

So far, Palemoon 4 seems to have its own add ons in addition to any that firefox 4 has, if you use the palemoon add on page then click show all results it switches to the firefox page. Also, most add ons for palemoon say add to firefox

When you install Firefox 5 it shows a list of the add ons it cannot run

I was just looking at the Santander website to see if they had a report on the bombing of their branch in Derry, but got a message about browser incompatibility... FF 4.0.1 Ubuntu.. Whatever!

EDIT: Santander seems to block anything but IE7 and IE8 and FF3.5..

No wonder people resort to blowing up their branches. Just another battle in the browser wars.
