my driving licence

Had to send my driving licence back (it's a yearly thing) as they check that I'm fit and able to drive. They write to my consultant to get details of my condition. I have FA, and was wondering if anyone else has to do the same thing?

I am lucky - I only have to do it every 3 years but always find it really stressful. Hope yours goes OK.

Thank you. I wondered after I posted if it was Friedrich'a Ataxia.

I don't really know anything about either. I hadn't heard of Fanconi's Anaemia before your link. Hopefully the OP can clarify - I'm curious now!

When I started insulin I had to send something off to say the doctor said I was safe to drive, I assume the DVLA wrote to the doctor to confirm, I don't remember getting a letter or anything from the doctor. I had to send off the license to get a 3 year one iirc. It was all very straightforward.

Surrendering it was even more straightforward! No idea how I would go about getting it back though!

I was asked recently "how can you have a Motability car if you're not allowed to drive?"

Lol because I'm not the one that'll be driving it.

My son has a Mobility car - but I drive it. He is too young at 13, and because of his disabilities, he will never learn to drive.
