The usual problem of expecting drivers to provide a Harrods service for a Primark price.

    Not really.

The usual problem seems to be getting the driver to remain long enough to check your goods.

The ability to check your goods if you have to sign for them is actually fundamental to the whole system when it is inevitable that mistakes will be made and Asda will not cooperate if you have signed.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

I have never had a driver from any delivery service stay whilst goods were unpacked. On several occasion I have had missing items (once totalling more than £25)and always had a refund without question. I would insist on a refund.

Thats exactly what I meant. The price they charge for delivery does not cover the cost of the driver waiting while you check your order, which means they will not be able to do as many deliveries in a day(substantially less).Hence Primark price charged yet company expects Harrods service by saying the driver will wait while you do so.
I've asked the drivers how many drops they have to do a day and there's no way Asda make any money on the delivery itself after paying the driver, running the van etc, in fact I'd say they are more likely to be making a loss but obviously the convenience brings n sales they might not have otherwise made.
I have my shopping delivered by Asda and there have been mistakes but its always been rectified or I would stop using them and for what they charge its worth the odd mistake.
Our shopping list gets checked after the driver has left and it takes a while-could probably reduce this time by putting the list in alphabetical order(frmo my POV at least) or larger print on the paper.
