WiFi or CAT6 Cabling?

Hi There
I am in the process of buying a new home and it needs a rewire. Is there any advantage to installing CAT6 cabling over just using a WiFi router?
thanks!

Wired is always preferable to wireless.0

unless you have a wife who hates wires
I'm with Hammyman, wired is always preferable over wireless, especially for tasks such as HD streaming.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

That was a reply to jb66 but yours came along inbetween while I was composing it so I deleted it.
He said his wife didn't like wires - as the OP is proposing running the cat6 when the house is rewired it won't be any more visible than the electric wiring. When your post came inbetween I decided to delete it because it would be too cryptic and need explaining. Looks like I was right.0 -

If they're being fitted as part of a refurb, they will be embedded in the walls and out of view. THerefore if a wife has issues with network cables they must also have an issue with mains cables as well.0 -
I'd consider network over power lines as well.. I've been running it for a few years now, and it works great - the cables are already there.
My preference in order:
1) Cat5/6
2) Powerline network
3)Wifi
So if pulling new cables arent an option have a look at homeplugs. (200mb minimum)0 -
Unless you are (or plan to be) running a gigabit network then CAT5e will be just fine, and also much easier to run. (CAT6 is quite "stiff" and not so easy to bend around corners/joists etc.)0

Just make sure however installs it doesn't pull the cables through the trunking, but instead, lays the cables in prior to popping the cover on.
Btw, most sparkies do surface-mounted trunking these days. Few if any will automatically do 'in-wall' rewires due to the extra costs.Never Knowingly Understood.
