I can feel my dispatch time is going to be marked down

My dispatch time is 5 working days, like most people i work and cant get to the post office every day.

Item sold on the 18th and I've had a chase saying for the postage paid they'd expect it sooner than the 26th... it's going next day delivery so it'll be there on monday, I'm going to the PO tomorrow.

How much postage i charge doesnt alter the fact that i cant get to the post office immediately. :(

Could you time your auctions to end one or two days before you can get to the Post Office? This assumes of couse that the buyer pays on time. Alternatively, explain in your listings that you can only post on whatever day of the week it is (say Wednesday).
  • I will do from now on but that defeats the object of stating a dispatch time.

I can see the issue. If you have a long disopatch time then why offer next day delivery. If someone is bidding then they will presumably be happy to wait and pay a less expensive postage charge. I would be unhappy pating for next day when it wasn't being posted for 5 days.
  • The item was worth more than £46. We live and learn I guess.

If you live anywhere near a Citylink depot, you can book the delivery through Parcelmonkey, print off the label and stick it on the parcel then drop it off in person at the Citylink depot. They've got bodies in there from 6am or earlier through to around 8pm at night.
  • Thanks Hammyman, I'll look into that. Another difficulty for me is that I don't drive.

Do you have a sorting office (aka delivery office) anywhere nearby? I've recently discovered that they accept paypal/royal mail online postage items. You just hand it over the counter and they stamp your proof of postage. The one near me is open from 7am so very handy.

If I was buying something from ebay I wouldn't buy from someone who had a 5 day despatch (even if they did send it next day delivery) unless it was a one off item that I couldn't get elsewhere.
  • Hmm, a rethink is in order.

The collection office is open from 7am but I'm not sure that they accept items? I will enquire. There is a PO which I use near work and more often than not I can get to it within 2 days, the 5 days is really a buffer in case I can't.

The earliest it might have been posted would have been today, but unfortunately not possible.

I asked a Q on here very recently about the sorting/collection/delivery offices (they're all one and the same nowadays) and can confirm they definitely accept outgoing mail that already has the postage paid. I think you might even be able to pay for items to be sent there as I noticed a sign that said they did not accept cards, only cash or cheques. It's so easy to do the online postage though and the money comes out of your paypal balance which suits me better too. It literally takes a second for them to stamp the pre-printed proof of postage form and away you go.

Sorry I agree with kurgon, if paying for next day delivery i would expect it to be next day, not next day after your 5 day dispatch time.
