I was travelling along the A12 between Saxmundham and Farnham in Suffolk
and have seen the following cameras that have appeared since yesterday.

I have contacted Suffolk Police, Suffolk County Council Highways and Suffolk Coastal Distict Council all say they are nothing to do with them.

When I contacted Suffolk County Highways Contracting someone in their office said that some people in a plain white transit van was putting them up this morning though who they were nobody knows.

The only thing on them is on the box attached to the bottom it says CCTV in operation
and appear to be a camera on a tall scaffold pole with a box at the bottom.

Does anyone know what they are?

Some of them have just appeared round here this week. There is also a guy hanging round by one camera in a high viz vest holding a clipboard. Not sure what its all about though.

They have been installed by COBRA to ensure they have a good cctv feed from around the country when the clock hits 6pm tomorrow.

I've a table booked for 8pm, not sure if we'll make it, I'll be burning in hell by then and I like my steaks rare not well done.

They could simply be traffic management cameras, along the lines of the black traffic flow cables which are sometimes spread over the road, or maybe a temporary ANPR feed for a specific operation....

They still do that... only they seem to prefer Nissan Micras now.

Look similar to what we have near to me, except these are wireless and overlooking all 4 angles of a major cross roads.
Nobody seems to know what they're for......
