Hi all,
My beautiful cat died yesterday. We buried her in a nice patch in the garden. I wanted to plant a pretty flowering shrub or small tree there to remember her by, preferably something that comes into flower now so I can remember her every year. Any suggestions? Her name also was Meadow if that helps give any suggestions?

    Iris is flowering now.

Roses are also coming into bloom.

so sorry to hear about your cat passing away yesterday. When my cat george died a few years ago we planted a walnut tree over him, although it doesn't really blossom most of the year it has leaves on it (except winter). Alternatively the plants i've planted which have come up every year includes poppies (like the giant ones), lupin, clematis (if it has something to climb up), lavender. Hope you find something you like

I am sorry to hear about your cats death. When our cat died we planted a mountain ash [rowan] on her grave. it has white flowers and red berries in the autumn. I also think catmint is appropriate. its a flowering plant but can get quite large. Did she catch birds or watch them out of the window? if so,maybe a Robinia bush would be suitable.

I'm so sorry to hear of Meadow's passing and your sad loss.

All our cats have roses to commemorate them, I'm a bit of a traditionalist! But if you want something that looks gorgeous right now, I've just had a nosy around my garden (and that of my my plantaholic neighbour!) and she has a lovely dwarf lilac called Syringa Patula 'Miss Kim' that is flowering right now.

I have a Philadelpus (Mock orange) that's just starting to flower now, scented and beautiul.

So many gorgeous clematis are flowering right now - they can be trained through shrubs so you get a double whammy of flowering. Or up a beautiful metal obelisk.

There's a wildflower called 'Meadowsweet' that likes a damp situation but might be appropriate.

Our oldest, white lady cat who died at estimated 21 years (she might have been older!) deserved a tree, so we chose a Silver Birch for her.

Go to a decent garden centre and have a browse, see if anything colourwise or namewise leaps out at you.

Please let us know what you choose. xxx

So sorry to hear about Meadow's loss. I have a garden full of commemorative plants. At the moment there is a beautiful peachy cream azalea out which commemorates our cream kitten.

When you are looking around perhaps think about Meadow's fur colour or any distinctive markings and use this to help you select the perfect memorial plant.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We have many animals buried in our garden from guinea pigs/gerbils, cats, dogs and even our pet sheep (back in the day when you were allowed to bury farm animals)!
We usually plant daffodils to mark the spot. My suggestion would be Dicentra Spectabilis - bleeding heart. It is such a beautiful plant in it's own right and it flowers in spring.
