No one mentioned San Siro in Milan????? Absolutely fantastic place. You need to buy tickets in advance if you want to see AC, but with Inter you can buy on the day. If you do buy in advance see if you can get an Italian speaker to book on an Italian site (tickets are collected at stadium) - we booked with ticketmaster but all the English were in the same bit so we missed a bit of atmosphere.
Loads of airlines fly to Milan - Ryanair go to Bergamo which is an hour by train, or stay in Bergamo and see Atalanta instead - great fun if you're in with the drummers!!!!!
Best steer clear of Sicily though......:eek:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Worth looking at Lufthansa or www.TUIfly.com for travelling to German matches as they do an air plus rail fare. http://www.tuifly.com/en/offers/fly_and_rail.html?
Also flying to Cologne from UK are www.germanwings.com who go from Edinburgh, Stansted and from Gatwick to Hamburg (too far away for Munich).
Also from Gatwick is a route to Stuttgart which is also in Bavaria so reasonably handy for Munich and of course they also have a Bundesliga team (I've been to a UEFA cup match at the stadium and enjoyed the experience).
Also worth considering for football in the Rhineland, Ruhr and surrounding parts of western Germany is a flight to Amsterdam as it doesn't take long to get a train from there to Western Germany.
Cologne now has an intercity rail link direct from the airport.
For German train info go to www.bahn.de they also have a UK office if you need to book tickets over the phone (cheaper fares in advance).
Current Bundesliga One Teams in Western Germany are: Borrusia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkeusen (quite near to Cologne airport), Shalke 04 (again an excellent stadium which is in Gelsenkirchen), and smaller clubs (but worth considering if there is a good team visiting) at Aachen and Bochum.
If you were going to Nothern Germany you have Hamburg of course (couldn't recommend them as I prefer the alternative Hamburg side of St. Pauli) and west of there Werder Bremen. South of Hamburg are Wolfsburg and Arminia Bielefeld.
To the North East you will find Hertha Berlin and south east of there in former east Germany is Energie Cottbus.
More Centrally is FC Hannover 96.
The last teams to mention would be Mainz which is south west of Frankfurt (a major international airport in Frankfurt but also ryanair's flight to Frankfurt Hahn which is 1 and a half hours to 1 hour 45 mins away by car or airport bus to Frankfurt) and Nurnberg (flight from London City airport) which is south east of Frankfurt.
A few of these fit in with budget airline destinations depending on where you live see
www.ryanair.com
www.TUIfly.com for Newcastle to Hannover, Manchester to Hannover, Cologne and Stuttgart. Birmingham to Cologne
Fixtures and club details here http://www.bundesliga.de/en/index.php
Might be more on the budget airline front but can't quite remember but one last money saving thing - your match ticket will probably include public transport by city bus, tram, underground train, light rail or other local train services to and from the match to other parts of the city.0 -
ticket information for Bayern Munich here (in German but if you go to home page and look for the British flag you will get the site in German with hopefully a contact number somewhere).
If you follow links I gave to bundesliga site you will find ticket info for each of the clubs by clicking firstly on the team badge.0 -
