European Football Matches???

  • Why buy off a tout when you can order them online, over the phone or on the day from the ticket office? Touts at these European stadiums take advantage of tourists, very few games sell-out

Barca tickets the easy way - find a Servi Caixa (cash) machine in the city, and buy your tickets there. The machine prints out the tickets. I did this myself, so it must be easy.

Another tip: go for the cheapest seat you can, and then find a better seat once you're in the ground - we found no-one to stop us moving around, and loads of locals were doing it too. Ended up at the front of the first tier bang on the halfway line. Caveat: the game was against Racing Santander, so there were a fair few empty seats.
  • :footie: I've never been but it would be the Nou Camp for we aswell! :footie: :D

Because £5 over the face value was not anywhere near rip off prices I have been quoted outside English stadiums so I feel that would be good value especially as someone flying out on the day of the match is likely to be on a tight time schedule.
The ticket office was closed when I went to the stadium last year - 2 hours 30 minutes before kick off and was still closed an hour before KO when I went into the stadium. Anyway I'm not for a minute saying that you can't get stung as a tourist at some stadiums but as you said - very few of these games sell out and perhaps that is reflected in the level of mark up on the ticket.

I tried to buy tickets online this evening for match on 21st December and it seemed to only be open to FCB members (cost of annual membership is 142 euros currently). I wouldn't rule out what you said about phoning the ticket office though but you would have to be sure you could pick them up from the ticket office.

Dunx - with regard to what you said "Barca tickets the easy way - find a Servi Caixa (cash) machine in the city, and buy your tickets there. The machine prints out the tickets. I did this myself, so it must be easy".

I was under the impression it is only possible to buy tickets from ServiCaixa if you are an FC Barcelona member - at least that is what it said on the website http://www.fcbarcelona.com/eng/noticias/noticias/n04091410.shtml

If you have managed to buy them as a non member I'd be really interested in hearing more about that as I am also planning another trip this season.

Are you sure? Well you must be of course but I've bought them from the office just before a game, they are closed to non-members online until so many days before the game when they'll release more, they do it in batches. You could call them up and order them, they do speak English, or they'll advise you when more will be available.

    Parkside,

Definitely got them through a Servi Caixa machine just round the corner from my hotel (near the marina). Booking fee of about 2 euros a ticket. It was about 6 hours before kick-off. For what it's worth the machines dispense tickets for other events too. I was surprised by how straightforward it was.

    Cheers,

    Dunx
  • Clearly something not 100% about what it says on the website -

"Tickets for FC Barcelona home matches in La Liga, the Kings Cup and the Champions League can be purchased at the following sales points.*
    Sales points
    - FC Barcelona ticket offices: From Monday to Thursday, 9 am to 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm to 6 pm
Friday, 9 am to 2.30 pm Saturday, 9 am to 1.30 pm (weekend matches in the Nou Camp) Match days North and South Goals ticket offices opened from 11 am
    - ServiCaixa ATMs (only FCB members)
    - Phone 902 1899 00 (+34 93 496 36 00 from abroad)
    - Internet (CHOOSE YOR SEAT)"

Fatboyonadiet, They definitely were not open before kick off on Sunday 27th November 2005 (when I last went) and I bought from a tout. Maybe they have changed this and it is possible to get them now on any matchday so I'm certainly not going to contradict anyone (who knows, maybe they were on strike or everybody had the flu - I came back home with it myself after a stint in the top tier without the blankets everybody else seemed to have).
Glad to hear it is possible to buy on the internet and what you said explains my inability to buy them on the web yesterday.
I guess the website info is not entirely accurate given what dunx has said about ServiCaixa ATM.

    Other poster is right:

    PRAGUE

But Sparta Prague games. I fact either of Sparta or Slavia prague will have a home game any weekend as they tend to alternate. Sparta Prague have the better stadium and you pay on the gate. £6 3 weeks ago.

Very very easy to get to the stadium.

    Prague is a fantastic city.

But midweek games are quite rare and they soon have the winter break.

So go with the Barcelona. It will be the best pressie he will get.
  • i got my tickets from the offical barcelona website in november.had to collect them from the booking office, make sure you bring the credit card you book them with for proof of id. cost £22 bargin

I'd also mention one of the big german teams such as Brossia Dortmund, or Shalke. Both of which are around 1hr on the train from Cologne, which you can get to very cheaply on the eurostar or by easyjet.

You can get tickets for Dortmund on the below link. There normally is availability if you book in advance, but they generally have a 80k sellout most weeks. Can't beat german football for atmosphere.
