Wedding album vs digital images

Hi all,
We got married at the end of March last year and are currently debating what to do with our wedding images.
We got a professional photographer to take the images on the day and have since bought all the images on a DVD so we could print off, send around etc. This dvd was £400. My husband is really keen on also getting a proper album with our images displayed in - these albums are upwards of £500 though. I'm not so bothered as we've already got the images anyway and I just know that if we get a book it'll never get looked at. I'd much rather put that money towards our honeymoon in October.
What do you think? I know it's nice to have a physical book and all, but I just dont think it's worth the money!.......

Make your own album with the pictures you have? Could just stick them in one from whsmiths but photo books are nicer I think as it's easy to rezise, type in captions and put patterns & bits on.
Try photobox http://www.photobox.co.uk/shop/photo-books. The £5.99 one advertised won't look amazing but there's plenty of upgrades (cover, size, paper quality) you can pic so I expect you'd be able to make something really lovely for £50-£100.0 -
If you have the rights to the images and can upload them, why not check out the albums on photobox, truprint, snapfish, albelli or any other online photo shops. They would be much cheaper.0

Could you make your own album? I had a couple of students photograph our wedding last year and got the images on disk and I bought a lovely handmade paper album for about a tenner and did it myself! It's probably not the best quality and I'm sure a professional would have done it better but we still have the images on disk so when we're a bit more flush we can get that done and in the meantime we've still got an album that we can show granny

Could you maybe make your own album? You have the images already so could take to a local printer's fairly cheap to get them printed off onto quality paper and then find a nice album yourself to put them in. Wouldn't cost so much that way but would still have a physical book to look at. Or places like Jessops or Vistaprint will let you make up your own photobook where you choose what's on all the pages (so could have the photos and writing ect) and then print it all out for you.
If hubby doesn't like the idea and wants the 'official' book the maybe say you'll get this as a temporary one and get the proper one done later when you've paid for the honeymoon. Chances are by then he'll have realised it doesn't really get looked at much and not want to bother

Yes, we have the rights to the images now. I've had a look on photobox and that looks good! I'll suggest that to my husband, see what he thinks.0

we did a similar thing when we got married in June 08...but we still haven't got a "full" album printed up! MIL had a photobook made up for us which is lovely, what we decided to do instead is to pick a few of our favourites and have them made into a montage on canvas- I've found a few webistes that do this but for the effect I want- I want them blended not just blocks of photos next to each other, it can be quite pricey- so I'm going to try and get my little brother (who is a bit of a whizz with photographic software) to see if he can do it for me and then have it printed up on a large canvas- that way the pics are on display rather than in an album that we have to get out to show everyone...
If your Hubby is not keen on the photo book idea maybe suggest you get a couple of canvas prints?

For something really special print off a few pics and begin scrapbooking. You can make a really special album this way.0
