I'm not fussed one way or other but as my son won't drink tap water it's a bargain for me:)

Brilliant! I'm not slating the OP as a bargain is a bargain. I'm just debating the benefit of bottled water. Aslo, when you get your 24, open one, put all 24 back in Fridge with lid screwed back on tightly with the one you took out now filled with tap water. Tell me if your son picks it out.

If he doesn't, you've saved yourself a fortune and he can't complain due to plain logic. If he does you've lost nothing.

PS - yes, my children hate me sometimes! :o
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Please: drink bottled water because you like it, or because it is convenient for you, or drink it because you can afford it, but don't drink it because you believe the marketing hype!

You can't open a tap when you're jogging or put it in your lunchbox.
That is a feature of a bottle, not the water

    tap water's not pure
Nor is bottled water. Listing the impurities on the side of the bottle does not make them go away. In the case of Buxton, it is filtered and is slightly alkaline, true pure water would be pH neutral and the list of "minerals" on the side would be empty. There are several ways to get pure water: distillation is one, pumping it out of a hole in the ground is not another.

Water in the London area has gone through 7 people before you drink it, charming.
Of course it has - at least 7 - as with any other water you drink, it is not unique to London. Otherwise the earth would have run out of water many millennia ago. You could apply the same fact to the oxygen you breathe or the molecules in your body (statistically you have several molecules that once made up the body of Julius Caesar - eeewww, you're part dead Italian)

I have no problems with people choosing to drink bottled water or not, and thanks to the OP for the heads up for people who do buy it. Personally, I don't drink Buxton, I only drink water piped direct from the Wicklow Mountains to a special treatment and bottling plant near the banks of the Liffey, but then, I do that because I like the taste and they tell me it is good for you.

Just don't fall for the marketing guys' (wet) dreams.

Put it like this - he pays me for his keep so I buy him what he prefers, he specifically asks me to get Buxton's when I'm shopping. I'm sure he probably couldn't tell the difference but if that's what he wants it's up to him.

OK I know about the molecules of Julius Caesar etc but my point about 7 people is that in the London area it's a very tight circle.

Water is abstracted from wastewater from houses, that's why it contains oestrogen from women on the pill.

Literally person 1 drinks & pees, next day it has been 'purified' in a waste treatment plant and it's back in the taps ready for person 2.

This country is paranoid and many people don't realise how lucky we are!! Just drink the thing. We are lucky to live in a country with running water that is as clean as ours. There are many countries that can't say this. This also is supposed to be a forum for money saving, so surely the free water from the tap is more of a saving than buying bottled water!

I don't understand your point - why does the tightness (or otherwise) of the circle matter? Does this mean you are fine with drinking the "passed water" of someone 1,000 miles away but not 100 miles away? Where is your demarcation line? Also, the plastic from which the bottles are made are known to leach phthalates, one of several known oestrogen mimics, that is substances that have the same effect on the human body as oestrogen. So maybe if oestrogen contamination concerns you, you should stick to glass bottles and products such as Perrier (oh, that is as long as you think the whole benzene contamination thing won't happen again)
Drinking bottled water as opposed to potable tap water is perfectly fine if that is what you want to do, but justifying it by using the spurious health claims of the bottled water companies' marketing campaigns is not.
