Hi, the gum and mints taste awful apparently but if you want a hit, the nicotine mist thingy is good.0

15 hours is nearly a day , and you will be one day along quitting .
you will never know the hold they have on you till you quitBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I'm a smoker too, but seem to manage fine on a long haul flight. If I know I absolutely can't smoke, then I don't even think about it, well apart from when I've just eaten my meal
I tried nicorette gum a few years ago when flying to South Africa and hated it...0 -

i know smokers are like lepers and we are disgusting and we should be ashamed of our self ..........:)
to date, I can't think that I've ever helped a smoker to light up, but on this occassion, I may be able to help you.
you mention that your trip could posibly take 15 hours -- do you have a layover in America ? If so, in some American airports, I've seen glass fronted smoking rooms where the addicted can take their hit of nicotine, to help them to an early grave. (as a non-smoker, its really very sad seeing Mum & Dad puffing away in a smoke filled room, with their small children in the corridoor watching them.)
It may bean option for you.:beer:0 -
Without wising to sound facetious you could view it as almost the most perfect time to give up.
After just 20 minutes into the flight your blood pressure will already be dropping.
By the time you're flying over mainland USA the carbon monoxide and oxygen levels in your blood will be back to normal.
By the time you've stepped off the plane in Vegas you'll be nearly at the end of your first day giving up.
And if you manage to get through that first night without lighting up
( difficult in Vegas I know where smoking is still encouraged ) the chances of you suffering a heart attack will already be decreasing.
You'll also be out of your normal routine of smoking during your holiday.
Those 15 hours on a plane could change your life. They'll certainly prolong it a bit.0 -
Ask your GP for a sedative to take on the flight, i did it when i went to new zealand a few years ago. did the trick for me.0

While I know that all you are saying is true - Vegas would surely be the most difficult place to stick to a plan to quit, as you know since you mentioned it...personally, I wouldn't try to quit on holiday as I would prefer not to feel miserable on my holiday...and my husband wouldn't want to put up with me either.
Quitting AFTER a Vegas trip makes more sense, since you'll probably have overdone it and be sick of smoking by then.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just open the door and step outside like you do when in a pub ;o)))))0

I skipped last time...skipped out the doors at T2 in Vegas with my lighter and cigarette at the ready. It makes my husband laugh (he does not smoke)...but heaven forbid our cases take a long time to come out on the carousel...that's when I start getting really tetchy...I CAN SEE THE DOOR RIGHT THERE.
I nearly got shot in zante a few years ago doing this. The plane landed and we went to get bags and they had 1 handler (no joke, took him 3 1/2 hrs to unload the plane, o yeh he went for his brew in this time aswell) so thought sod it going for a fag. So i went to go back towards the runway and as i opened the door a guy screamed at me pointing an MP5 in my face. Quickly put down the fag and walked back inside, tail between legs
