IIRC, the wording that you should stop, unless doing so might cause an accident.

Ah. That's why I get so many people screaming and beeping their horns at me at traffic lights.

When the lights turn to amber.................... Which pedal do you press? Accelerator or brake?

    Depends...

If I'm sat AT the lights and I amber light comes on, then I get ready to move off...

If i'm driving towards lights and they change to amber, then I stop.

I was told by my driving instructor that if you hve time to thinki about accelerating, then you have time to atop.

It annoys me when you here retards saying "oh the lights suddenly changed to red..."

Did they? How did they suddenly change? If they are on gren, then what comes next... mber, red. Duh...

these irritating people are usually the ones who use the phrase "I fell pregnant..."

I'm sorry but does this question need asking??

We all know the correct answer?

We all do exactly that, right?

    Well of course we don't.

What's the best excuse for breaking the law should be the original query

Because you can get away with it?

A camera won't flash you for going through on amber and a watching copper would be pushed to disprove your statement "in my opinion it was too late to brake".

Did you ever drive the East Lancs road when it was still a 70. Lots of traffic lights in certain sections of that road.

If you're not really paying attention. The 3 second amber phase gave very little thinking time and very little margin for error. Decide to stop when slightly too close and you'd cross the stop line, decide to go when slightly too far away and you go through on red.

One person I used to be a passenger with on that road used to drive the traffic light section at 60mph to make the decision a little easier, and when he decided to go through, which was less common than him deciding to stop, he'd always accelerate and go through at 70, just to be sure to get through on amber.
