NO ! They are much MORE difficult to get out of the tin when cold, the grease sets and "glues" the meat in place.
Get it out of the tin when it is warm, put it in a Tupperware box in the fridge, then slice it when it is nice and cold.
    :T

    This makes more sense.
Metal (including tin) shrinks when it is cold and expands when warm.
So its bound to be more difficult to get the corned-beef out of the tin when cold because the tin will be gripping the contents more tightly. I THINK! :rotfl:

I think the value corned beef in Tesco's this morning was £1.29. Don't know about sandwiches or the such, but makes a perfectly good corned beef hash.

Co-op stuff tastes the nicest to me but 175g was £3.05 yesterday! ouch!
Think I'll have to do some shopping around!
I'm on a super lo-carb/high protein regime at present and corned beef is one of my faves!

Grease, by it's very nature doesn't stick to anything. A layer of grease between the tin and the corned beef would only make the corned beef come out easier. No matter how cold it was.

It's the vacuum that keeps the corned beef in the tin. You need to pierce the other end of the tin to clear the vacuum.

I used the term "grease" so as not to put people off - so I'll be a little more blunt !

The greasy, slimy stuff round the meat, sets into horrible yellow "fat" when chilled, the expansion of that causes the problem and sticks it into the tin.

I saw John Wests yesterday in Home Bargains for £1.49. I consider that a good price the way costs are rocketing at the moment.

I usually buy as best a tin(John West ect or Fray Bentos )don't like the cheapo stuff as its too fatty (Sainsbobs is pretty good though) as I can find and open it and slice and freeze in portions for myself As I live alone buying a small tin isn't economical whereas a big tin I can get at least four portions sliced thinly.I also keep it in the fridge to get cold then open both ends of the tin and push it through then slice with my meat slicer.
One of my favourite quick meals is corned beef, egg and chips with a sliced tomato .

I splashed out on 2 value tins at Tesco today £1.29 as previously mentioned, made with the same amout of meat per 100grams as the one twice the price,so will se how we get on,we like corned beef fritters but I have never had corned beef hash and the thought of it I dont like so not sure what else I will make, interesting that someone mentioned freezing the rest of the can as I have never thought of that....silly me............

My late OH always used to love a 'typhoid sarnie ' as he called them after a scare many years ago about corned beef

Was pleasantly surprised when opening the value corned beef from Tescos no thick fat or gunk around meat.
Made hash and it was very tasty will be on my menu once a week while the depression is on.
Think what i previously didnt like the thought of was it looking like pink mashed potato but it just look like beef stew with mashed potato folded into it served with fresh carrots and peas delish.
