Buy out Orange Contract

I would like to know if it is possible to do the following?

Phone up Orange and ask to be moved to the lowest possible tariff

Phone up (perhaps a month later) and ask to pay off the remainder of my contract.

Would I be able to request a PAC code?

I'm not sure you can drop your tarrif at all, would have to ask about that. Requesting your PAC code will invoke an early termination fee when used, you don't do it after paying up.

Have a feeling you can only drop a tariff in your last month now?

You can ask for your PAC at any time you like, but if you're still in your minimum term you'll have to pay it off before they'll issue it I believe. . .

I have just been offered a plan review which would have dropped my tarriff but it is not clear if im only allowed to drop the plan to the stated offer within the given time frame or means I can do what I want.

I have been told that the early termination fee will be the monthly line rental multiplied by the number of remaining months, im not however sure if there is a surcharge?

There no surcharge, it's just the number of months you have left times the amount you pay a month.

Make sure that doesn't tie you into a new minimum period or you might find your current £ * 6 months becomes lower £ * 12 months. Networks aren't known for their generosity approaching customers to reduce their tariff within your contracted period.

I may be missing something, but I think it makes absolutely no sense to pay the early termination fee in order to reduce the monthly cost.

    No, for example...

    £30/month with 9 months left = £270 ETA
Change to £20/month with 9 months left = £180 ETA

I THINK that you'd have to be on the price plan for at least one month before you could do this.

Not quite... you won't have to pay VAT on any unused months
