I will not buy damaged tins.A friend who is a nurse once told me how she nursed someone who died of botulism, its a very painful death.
How could they person know they got the botulism from canned goods?
Dented cans are perfectly safe unless they are leaking and even if they are it would not make them any more likely to be affected by botulism. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I imagine a pretty thorough investigation was carried out.By the coroners and police maybe!! A dented can clearly wasnt perfectly safe in that poor persons case!!I am not taking my info from t'internet -it happened,my last post.0

The problem with this story, though, is that it has nothing to do with dented cans.
The botulism toxin is something that is produced by bacteria under anaerobic conditions. Thus it is a factor of how the food was originally canned rather than whether or not the can was later damaged.
If there was any danger of something as serious a botulism from dented cans shops would not be allowed to sell them and, besides, anyone who buys canned goods will know that they are often dented by the time you get them home. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
