fed up with virgin how to move to Tesco
Hi all
What a great place this is I am wondering how to move my number over to Tesco let me explain my current user is Virgin I pay £9 monthly for 100 texts and 100 minutes plus the reception is not good Tesco have a sim only deal of 500 minutes 5000 texts for £10 and they use the o2 service so a better reception (yes?)
So can I buy a Tesco pay as you go phone (to get an handset) then sign up to their sim only deal and when my contract runs out with virgin get the PAC code from them.
Is this the right way to do this instead of trying to find a unlock code for my virgin Sony Ericsson W395.
Any advise would be appreciated

It depends whether you want a new phone or not. If you're happy with your current Sony, then you can call Virgin and request the unlock code (I believe this used to be £15, it may have changed though). Still cheaper than buying a new phone, though.
If you call Virgin and go through to Retentions, they may offer you a better deal to stay - depending on when your contract is due to run out, of course.
I would check the reception that 02/Tesco would give you before purchasing a new handset and porting your number - there is no guarantee that the 02 signal will be better. They should have a network map on the website, although take this with a pinch-of-salt. You could always compare it with the Virgin signal checker on their website, too.
If you sign up the Sim Only deal with Tesco now, you will be paying for it even if aren't using it yet because you're still in contract with Virgin.
Hope this helps.Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!

Thanks very much for the quick response I forgot to mention that I had my original number with o2 PAYG so hence I thought their reception would be good as my virgin phone does not appear to have good coverage in Edinburgh0

You're welcome :-)
If you've got experience of their signal in Edinborough and are confident that it's an improvement, that's good news.
