Where did I accuse you of lying I simply gave an alternative point of view which is helpful. I didn't say it didn't happen, it obviously did, I simply said what my experience was, I thought that's what these forums were for to give our own experiences, knowledge and opinion.
If you read my thread I actually wrote..I don't know why this happened to you. Wow don't take it so personally.
Actually I informed CB first and then WTC, I had no breaks in any payments and I've been through this process 3 times now, so I don't know why you did.
I've had to ask different people at times what the procedures are for different things. For example, only this morning I was argued with by an officious young thing telling me that even if my husband started an occupational pension it wouldn't show up on his P60 in otherwords, he culd start a pension but they'd still take his full salary figure, he came back to me rather shamefaced saying I was right. It's always worth checking things out a couple of times, I find.
To refresh your memory....The loopy one has gone :j0 -

Same here I think it was when I received the tax credits forcast for this year and noticed the drop in a few months time, i though okay must be due to sons age and then thought perhaps the letter had gone astray, so what would I need to do to get my money right again:).
If you have not had it yet just ring child benefit up anyhow and tell them your sons plans if staying in education etc...and hopefully you will get the help I did.0 -
If you do not inform Child Benefit that your 16 year old child is staying on in full time education, your payments will stop at the end of August, beginning of September.
So, I agree, no harm at all in phoning Child Benefit to inform them that your child is staying on.0 -

hi , ive just looked into the application for 16 year olds ( child benefit ) its asking about where they are going etc and what courses etc . my problem is im waiting to hear from learning education authority ( LEA ) to see if he has a place at a special needs 6th form school , he already has a place at a special needs college , but we are waiting to hear from the LEA about this 6th form . I visited the child benefit website and they have on-line services and there is a on-line application version of the 16+ further education form ( so you can complete it on-line ) http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/keep-up-to-date/when-child-aged-16/child-16.htm . we are hoping to hear if my son's got his place at the special needs 6th form in June or later at the end of this month , its a very stressful time and a very long story . but i will still ring child benefit and re-contact child tax credits ASAP .0

Hi. I went through this process 3 years ago when daughter stayed on in 6th form. I advised them around May and when the system updated after 1st September, after one week of reduced payments covering my other two children, the payments for my daughter continued.
Now going through same thing with my 16 year old son. When I renewed, I told them he is staying on in 6th Form in September and is it too early to notify them that my son will be staying in education. She said that she would update it on the system and then when the system updates after 1st September, this will be updated and a new award will be issued at this time, with the payments continuing for my son. Obviously I will ring them at the beginning of September, to check this has been updated. When I did this with my daughter, the change I notified them of in May was indeed on the system and was in process of updating at beginning of September.
Single Sue, my daughter stayed on in 6th form for 1 year and then college for 1 year. Once I had advised them that she was staying on in 6th form, the payments continued indefinitely until I told them that she had left full time education. I presume that this has not changed and that once you have advised them that your child is staying on in education, you merely then inform them when the child leaves. Your award should show if your payments will be changing at the end of this school year.
Hope this helps and I have not babbled on too much!
Thanks for that, it was very helpful and you didn't babble too much either. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Although my tax credit award did drop for that first week in September, they had actually remembered and had it on record eldest was staying on when I rang on the 1st Sept.
It still caused a lower payment despite being told (they said that was normal) but said it would correct itself as the information was on file already.
Maybe I got a bit of what you experienced and a bit of what no-oneknows me had experiencedWe made it!
