Has anyone noticed this phenomenon?

I saw one rather oikish looking young man, wearing a tracksuit, smoking a fag while riding his bike (silly full-supsension toys rus type bike), thing that got me though was that his seat was so low that when his pedals were at the bottom of their stroke, his knees were still at a 90 degree angle. Isn't it rather painful to cycle around like this?

I saw an older chap doing the same a bit later, but I thought perhaps he was doing it because he wanted to be able to put his feet on the ground easier....

It might of been one of bikes that you are meant to stand on , the kids use them for stunts and things.. they hardly use the seat at all . But I have also seen lots of adults on bikes where the seat really isn't adjusted correctly and yes its a lot harder work to cycle if the seat is too low.. you're leg should be almost straight when the bottom pedal is down at its lowest..

Round our way, the 'runners' for the local drug dealers use pushbikes with low saddles, because it's easier to get off and run.

Also they can claim the bike isn't theirs 'cos it's too small.

It's the stunt/jump bike thing, but also "gangsta" too.

Such people (or similar) exist around here. I have no doubt they are involved in crime in some way. They also ride on pavements.

At least you know that you'll be able to fly past them without any danger of getting mugged/stabbed.

They'll never catch up on a suspended steel frame with their knees around their ears!
