    Fantastic news and well done.

My DFD is looking likely August 2013 when a work share scheme is on track to more than pay off the debt mountain, and start the MFW journey to boot, in the meantime, each month has to be taken and managed as best it can be, with as little increase in the debt as possible. I am aware my income net of share savings, is less than my outgoings, but it is a choice to try to be debt free faster, which I guess could come back and bite me hard. Only just over two years to find out now, but looking very healthy.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Thanks for all the good wishes guys, I made my first payment into my savings account today!!!

Spent the evening doing up my budget envelopes for the week, Food, Petrol, weekend spends, etc Was able to put a bit more in each of them which was lovely.

Being in control of finances whether you are debt free or on the way to being debt free is what it's all about. I look forward to congratulating you all when you hit the magic date!

Agas are great, but they cost a fortune to run.

Happily for the OP, the company has just discovered how to install an on/off switch:

    Congrats and well done!

Now go and treat yourselves to something nice and relax knowing no one will knock on your door for debt and the only phone calls you will get will be annoying one's from companies trying to sell you things :)

    All the best

Really well done, must be such a weight of your shoulders
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
  • What an inspirational post ! Well done, it's great to hear of your success, even with such a monumental debt.
I'm sure a lot of people will recognise the 'trying to be something we are not'. There is so much pressure these days to possess 'stuff' that it's difficult to step outside and see what's really important.
You should be proud of yourselves.

Almost 2 years after my lightbulb moment, (23rd of July 2009) and more than 2 months ahead of schedule, we are debt free :j

We owed nearly €25k at the height of our debts.

We had tried and failed for nearly 15 years prior to this to get out of debt, so we certainly know about the long game.

My major lightbulb moment came when I finally realised that all our debts were about us pretending to be something we are not.
I haven't posted much recently, but this forum was instrumental in our success.
