Comments

We stayed at the YMCA hotel for two nights in October 2010 and the rate was £88. We were upgraded foc to a suite when we checked in.
Perfectly adequate hotel and good location0 -

Strange it not working so well. Put a couple of dates in for end Oct and a lot of results came up:

I started a long post saying way, but it got lost. So anyway, whatever you do.....
DO NOT LEAVE HONG KONG HOTELS IN OCTOBER UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE IF YOU WANT 3* PLUS!!
Oct 11-31 is the peakest of the peak season, in a city with a massive shortage of hotel rooms. There are zillions of a) Conferences b) Exhibitions c) MICE conventions d) Tourists & Chinese tour groups e) Cruise Ships in October - many hotels are already fully booked. Last October 3*+ hotels ran at over 99% occupancy.
If you find something good now, book it. It could cost you a fortune if you wait. I was there in December (just a moderately busy time), and had only 10 days to book my hotels - my first 6 choices were full, and had to book an upgraded rooms at the 7th (which ran full for the 3rd successive month)
The 'wait to the last minute' thing does NOT work for all places at all times. With Hong Kong being a prime example.0 -

Don't stay here. Take it from someone who lived in HK for 14 years.
We always stay at the YMCA Salisbury (it's a hotel, nothing like a youth hostel). There is another, slightly cheaper YMCA which doesn't have quite as good a location but is still def worth it and there is nothing wrong with the second's location, it's just not as stunning as the Salisbury.0
