microsoft office 2007 not responding

    It should run fine on XP with sp2 or higher - hopefully it is sp3

    ok now really running into problems. thought i would try the repair function again. instead it just sits there doing nothing.

    so i thought i better just uninstall it and try again....and nothing is happening....

    think its sp2. just remember i had such hassle upgrading it last time..

    Try temporarily switching off Norton and see if the problem is still there. It certainly used to have a reputation for interfering where it wasn't wanted and can be awkward to remove, but it's a good place to start.

    I have Office 2007 running on a Dell Desktop where Powerpoint is behaving in the same way as described by the OP. My anti-virus is Sophos and it happens with Powerpoint and Access.
    I'd also be interested in potential solutions.

    ok just to update you.

    after 1.5hrs of running "repair" from the disk, microsoft office said everything was repaired...

    so I started up powerpoint............and it crashed within the first 10 clicks of the mouse......:cool:

    Rather than running a repair, try completely uninstalling and re-installing Office.
    Have you tried it with Norton disabled, if only to rule that option out?

    i did try it once without nortons but i was so scared about getting infected that it was only for a short time and it still crashed.

    I will try the reinstall tonight and will let you know...
