Stupid question - PAC number & move to T mobile
OK, so Mrs V wants a new phone. Samsung D500.
Shes on Vodafone with an £11.99/mth tariff & 400 off peak mins. hence her bill ends up at £35-40 in real life, 'cos she's using her phone more now.
Having NEVER had an upgrade, other than switching from analogue to digital, 5-6 yrs back, we were surprised to see them ask for £100 to get the Samsung!
However, T want to give you the phone plus 1/2price for first 6months, on 18month contract. The tarrif would still be less than what she spends now, even after discount period.
So.....
Should she switch over - don't know of any drawbacks with T. Like the idea of free voicemail, she uses this quite a lot. Don't like 50p/minute customer services. What else is there?
OR...
If she asked for her PAC number, before cancelling with Vodafone, does she HAVE to accept it & HAVE to change networks? Or could she just keep hold of it, until deciding to move? Not sure if it has some expiry date.
Thanks

I just changed from Voda to Orange and called Voda first about PAC. It arrived 3-4 days later in post and only changes over once Orange put wheels in motion. Meanwhile Voda stays connected. Takes maybe 7 days after Orange take account on for transfer to happen and it's painless and seamless.
All the time the original Voda phone stays connected and the new Orange phone uses the number it comes with in the box. I carried both around for a week.
The PAC does expire after 30 days and you have to apply for another one.0 -
Just a little side note 6 months 1/2 price on an 18month contract isn't brilliant, look about first, I got 10 months half price on a 12 month2p off is still 2p off!0

sorry should have said, was with https://www.onestopphoneshop.com but think they've changed the offer to 7 months half price now, still seems to be one of the best going, but I think have seen someone offer 10 months half price on a 12 month with 100 xnet (not sure would need to double check that, details are at work so PM me if you want to know and I will reply tomorrow).
Also onestop do a recommend a friend scheme which gives £30 happy to split it with you if you decided to go with them PM me if you want details2p off is still 2p off!0 -
VB the other deal I spotted was a 100xnet 12m contract with 7 months half price, details here: http://www.fonetasticmobile.co.uk/1/showphones.php?item=3173 also the offer with onestopphoneshop can be found here: http://www.onestopphoneshop.com/ourdeals.php?PROV=121&OFF=1D500&TAR=RELAX2 it does default to the 18m contract so just change it to check it out.
Hope that helps.2p off is still 2p off!0 -
TY
I'll let her see if Vodafone will improve on their offer, now!
