If you sign on say 6th June, then you go out the country on the 12th which means you miss your next signing day how does it work? How do you make sure you get the weeks money before you go? I know you dont get it while you are away btw. I just wondered what happens in this scenario?

How do you know it's not a gift from a family member or partner? Or maybe he is going to visit a sick relative or a funeral. OK, I doubt the latter, but you shouldn't judge so quick.
OP, I signed on for a few months a few years ago and once I couldn’t make it as I was going down south for a few days. I think the routine is just to let them know you won’t be about when you need to sign on and fill out a form explaining why. (I think the norm in these cases are for many people to tell a few white lies, not that I am condoning it of course……..)0 -

What's wrong with that opinion?
Why should benefits that should be used to find a job (paying for very basics, travel, etc) then be used to pay for going abroad? I'm pretty sure you can't effectively search for work, when you're not even in the same country.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

If it's a gift from a family member or relative, then he shouldn't be claim for the JSA for the weeks he is unavailable to search for work, as he would be abroad. If it's a funeral or so on, he should speak to his advisor, which they will have mentioned in the initial meeting.
Why even mention telling a few white lies, if you truly believe what you said above.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

How do you know the benefits are being used to travel abroad?
The OP needs to be honest with the job centre. He will probably be asked to sign off as he is unavailable for work, and sign on again on his return.0 -

Since he is wanting to claim while he is abroad, where he can't actually look for work, then I can say that the benefits won't be used to look for work, as they are meant to.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

I didn't say I believed it, I said it's a possibility. I don't know all the facts, the same as you, hence why I'm not jumping in with both feet....0 -

Yet still giving advice that a few little lies will be okay (You may say you don't condone it, but you still mentioned it without having to).Per Mare Per Terram0
