Well I spent another 40 minutes on the phone earlier and explained that I would not be willing to wait in for another whole day waiting for them to fetch/take the item.
They also let slip the collection hadn't even been booked which is what I suspected all along, taking into account that DHL are probably more efficient than Dixons.
They agreed to let me leave it a PC World store so the courier can collect from there. It's there now.
Problem solved but still very frustrating nonetheless.0
