OS Daily Wednesday 18th May

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday, 18th May 2011. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Overcast here today. It has rained overnight which is good for the garden.
I am experimenting with growing a potato in an empty old compost bag. It was in my potato sack and looked a bit sprouty, so I thought I would use it for this trial rather than eat it. I should have made a note of planting date - doh! Anyway it has small green leaves showing, so I shall top it up a little and keep watching. It is a main crop Maris Piper. I am interested to see what one small wrinkly offering can produce.
Have a good Wednesday all,
Cheers, Silver x

Morning all,
Looks like a nice day here again, I am off to work, so quick tidy round this morning, rubbish and recycling are out already.
DD has 2 more exams today, another English one and Citizenship, only a few more days at school.
Had a good result yesterday, went to the local cheapie shop, they had muller lights 5 for £1, and packets of Sweedish meatballs 2 packets for £1 :j I got 8 packetsdd was mortified :rotfl:I Would have got more but she would not let me, each packet will do OH and I for a meal, so a good cheap meal
We are having an omlette for tea too Hester, ,mushroom and cheese, with salad and bread and butter.
BB poor dog, might be wise to take her to the vet sooner rather than later, hope she is ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning Everyone!
Decided at the w/e that I really have to cut down on laptop time and thought an hour during the day would be pleanty for emails, this site, sudoku etc...Tried it Monday and only managed to deal with the emails! yesterday I was out most of the day so didn't get here then either. I do need to reduce the time spent, but clearly one hour just isn't enough!
Am steadily going through boxes and really enjoying finding stuff I thought had disappeared years ago, and also just heaving stuff out!
DS probably being discharged later this week and will probably be up at w/e. Hopefully I'll have a bedroom sorted for him by then!
No rain here again - the garden is pretty desperate at this point, so will need to get out there with the cans again.
Just heard alarm ringing upstairs so will take DH some tea. Hope you all have a good day.
BB - hope your doggie improves. Sounds like trip to the vet is on the cards.
Take care everyone.Resolution:

Morning all, very productive day yesterday. Spent morning clearing and cleaning two rooms and moving some furniture, then after surviving the school run I managed to get to WW and lose 2lbs (yipee!) and then catch up with some PTA stuff for the summer fair.
Today has started wet here, so the washing will have to decorate the radiators until dry! I've got a pile of ironing to do and then the plan is to get my hair cut. I tried to cut my own fringe on Monday and now it is in desperate need of a trim - I should have known better. Tea tonight will be mini burgers (made from meatballs!) with HM wedges for the boys - salad for me. Looking forward to the weekend as am off to a friends house for her sons baptism. A chance to scour different charity shops and I'm also picking up a new to me headboard someone was selling on ebay!
Congratulations to all who have birthdays and celebrations. Hugs for those in need. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning All
well it is really dull and overcast here.
DD2 has another exam today, a maths resit. She is feeling quite confident so I hope she does well.
I will be busy sitting around today! First got a hair appointment and then on to work where I will be doing more sitting.
Thank to Hester and Ruby for sharing their evening meal idea because I think I will join you with omelette but mine will be a plain one.
Must get sorted. Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone0 -
good morning!
day off today - so cleaning (well try while my baby girl creates more mess!).
need to sort out some of my plants as they need bigger pots and bamboo stakes and also to pop the bins out too!
I would list my jobs but its almost neverending!MFW.....Apr 33 Aim - Dec 260 -
Morning everyone
Overcast and dull here this morning, but not particularly cold, no rain overnight so have put washing out and will be watering the plants shortly.
DH up and off to work but not at stupid early so he brought me a cuppa before he left. Dinner last night was quickies, boys had cheese on toast, followed by yogurts, fruit etc, I had jacket pot and salad (the salad leaves were homegrown, great feeling going into garden cutting what I wanted, washing it then eating it! It's the first time I've grown anything, so feeling quite proud this morning! how sad is that?) and DH had egg and bacon sandwich when he got in from his meeting at 10pm. Got joint of pork out last night to defrost, tonight's dinner will be a roast etc.
DH hoping to get the grass cut tonight before dinner otherwise it'll be really long again. On a training course this morning, just working until lunchtime then on days off until Monday. Going away again this weekend, so need to keep on top of everything.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
nmlcWEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB0 -
Morning All,
Well done on the weightloss esmf
Good luck to Redruby's DD and all the other examinees today x
BB hope doggy is OK {hugs}
Damp here this morning. I am off back to work today, I managed to get through the whole day yesterday until about 9pm without cryingso hopefully it will be OK, although I am getting emotional just writing that, silly girl! Dinner tonight is fajitas. DS2 has requested a build your own fajita event, which they usually don't want, so that will be nice
I have a washing in the TD as I can't risk pegging out.
Ds1 is back at the high school today again, he's walking this morning with his wee friend, I thought it was a good idea to let them practice as they start at 9.30 so it will be quiet enough for them to find their way on their own.
Have a good day everyone, and stay safe!

Morning Peeps,
Good luck to all the exam takers today, My DS has his second English paper this afternoon.
Was a bit fed up after the interview yesterday. As I sat there I could feel all the stress building up that I left behind when I gave my last job up. Don't think its the right one for me:(
Anyway need to get on. Today need to do some shopping as the cupboards are bare. Not sure where yet, think perhaps Mr T's as its the nearest and I just don't fancy traipsing around, plus the extra petrol would not make it worthwhile.
Tea tonight sausage casserole and mash and need to make some biscuits as the tins are empty
JackieG (((Hugs))) for today, hope you get through it ok
Will catch up later J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
