Retaining fake money

Oh I can spot them.0

If you can't spot them then how do you know to retain them ???
But ajuk didn't state thay they couldn't spot them. They actually stated the opposite,
"I know my employer gets annoyed at my ability to spot fake pound coins",
and it just sounds like they are a bit worried that if they spot too many and keep hold of them (as the law requires), then they may end up in the **** with their boss.0 -
Oops, sorry about that I misread your post.0

I take it if my boss couldn't tell me not to as that would mean he was breaking some kind of incitement law?0

This has always puzzled me, how would the customer know that the money was really fake just at the say so of the assistant? Or even if it was handed in to the correct authorities?
I wonder how many confiscated notes end up back in circulation one way or another?
Even with a reciept how is the customer going to know its been handed in? Just on the say so of the assistant?
If a note was fake beyound doubt then wouldnt it be best to distroy it? Then the customer would not think that the shop was keeping it, and the shop would not be handing it back?
...now imagining a shop assistants burning £10 notes at their tills:rotfl:0 -
With note you can tear along the silver line and deface it, with coins, well most aren't lead any more but you can still scratch them with great difficulty,.0

Your acting on behalf of your employer so maybe they could argue its their duty to hand these to the police?
If you till is down as you have retained the fake coins they may have clauses in your contract stating they can recover losses. You could also face disciplinary for cash handling procedures.
If you think a coin is "fake" and made a mistake then you could be in deep water if they accuse you of theft. Or if your unable to prove you handed them over the the authorities.
If you keep pulling money out of the company by spotting fakes (legally or not) then their probably going to make your life much harder.
Seems to me like your asking for trouble.
Inform your boss of what you have found and let them deal with it. Makes life so much easier0 -
Na I wouldn't be making a mistake as any I don't know 100% are fake I just hand back.
And I don't see how I could make the till go down. I think you're confusing the ones already in the till with coins that get handed to me? :undecided0 -

I was thinking along the lines of if he come to cashing off and found the fakes.
Your going to have some interesting encounters with customers, thats for sure.
How often are you actually coming across this problem?0
