  • Thanks hermum it is hard for me to fully understand why the director is behaving like this,he has access to the funds so could easily
go online and book a collection .I have exchanged various emails with him but he seems to think i should foot the bill myself and then invoice him later.I'm not in a position to do this and even if i was
i wouldn't do so as it's not acceptable to ask a volunteer to do this.
I also can't even be sure that i would be refunded the transport costs.

You'd think that the director would do all he can to sort this out for you. Just the sort of crap you could do without when you're moving house. I hope that you can get it sorted out.

Gald to hear you've realised what an idiot the Director is being. Are they the only person you have contact with from the charity? Is there anyone else you can discuss it with there?

The only thing I would do is write a letter and send it recorded delivery to the registered charity address to explain your side of the situation and what you've had to do. That way they can't do anything silly later like accusing you of stealing the items.

I assume the stuff is personalised to that charity so you can't donate it to another one?

I thought that charities were having a hard time with raising funds at the moment. It's unbelievable that one will allow thousands of pounds worth of stuff go.
I hope that you won't be volunteering for this particular one after your move, as you obviously aren't valued, which is a shame, as you seem to have gone beyond what is expected of you.
  • Hi Chocmonster7
I have cced the charity founder into all of my emails with the director.I have expressed concern that thousands of pounds worth of items will be chucked or given away.I have requested that he step in to resolve it but he hasn't.

I have kept all my emails and been very clear with him and the director that unless the items are collected they will be lost to the charity.Despite this the founder who is still very much involved
with the charity and usually answers his emails quite promptly has choosen not to respond.
I did this because i wanted to protect myself against any accusations.I now feel i can do no more.If the founder is not
prepared to step in and ask the director to resolve it i can only
assume that losing items worth thousands of pounds matter very little to them.I seem to be the only person concerned about this.
The items are personalised but could be donated to other charities
etc,the problem is i will then need to spend even more time
sorting this out.As i can't face throwing perfectly decent items away i'm sure this is what i will end up doing.
This has certainly been a lesson for me.

Sounds like you've done all you can reasonably can Stormy-weathers.
I'd be inclined to pick a local chairty shop and donate it all to them!
