Vodafone Help!!!

My sister took out a vodafone contract (not sure if it was in a store or online) for a mobile phone and asked my mum (who is 73) if she would pay the direct debit until my sister could sort out her bank account. My mum was then contacted by vodafone to verify this. 2 direct debits were taken from her account and then mum cancelled direct debit thinking that my sister had sorted this out. As mum is elderley she cannot remember having signed any paperwork for this. Mum did not realise until a letter arrived today asking for 12 months worth of payments. My sister lives in the North East and my mum in the Midlands. Mum did not sign a contract and did not receive the phone at her address. Help any advice would be appreciated.

Whose name was the phone taken out under?

If it was taken out under your mums name then she would have to pay ifs its your sisters name get your sister to pay the bill.
