Sounds like you are doing your best working in difficult conditions with an awkward employer. With your current free time I would look at all other opportunities. If you do get laid off then best of luck finding something that will fulfill you and make you happy.

But is she bullying YOU? If so, then take the correct steps and discuss it with her. You are an adult after all right? If a situation is not perfect, then you look to how you can make it better. If your performance isn't up to scratch - have you asked what you need to do? Maybe a little initiative on your part will show your employer that you at least care about your job, and take away some of the negativity towards the job. Obviously, you feel you are better off on benefits - I'm sure that this attitude comes across in your work.

no i dont feel i would be better off in the long term. My manager has explained to me what i need to do, but i thought i was already doing the best i can. I feel as if she is bullying, there was a new member of staff which i helped out during a sale as she was unsure, the end of the day her till was down by £30, my manager seemed to think it was my fault because i helped the girl. I was in tears in the office and she didnt seem to care. I am an adult but im not very good in confrontational situations.

My boss is well known for bullying people out of thier job, in the last 3 months of working there 3 people have left.

if 3 people have left (assuming you aren't fired) you could ask if you could pick up some of there hours?

if you think you're going to be fired soon then may i suggest that you start looking for another job now?

    no reason why you can't.
One of the hardest of all life lessons is this:

Just because I feel bad doesn’t necessarily mean someone else is doing something wrong.

Just because I feel good doesn’t necessarily mean what I am doing is right.

In previous posts you talk about 'we', 'our', 'my partner', when talking about your pets, your garden etc. Is your partner working? How would he feel for you to just give up on a job if he's supporting you? Surely his income, if working, is taken into account with housing benefit etc., so the amount you would receive is limited anyway. Also, if he is working, then surely you only have so much time on JSA before they switch to household income/means tested benefits for you? Or.......is he unemployed and at home, and you resent having to go to work?

I think my brains must be going. The above sentence doesn't seem to make sense.

Im sorry but this is not true! I came on here asking for some advice, i cannot afford to work as i am in debt! I dont want to lose my job at all but the way my manager was speaking to me it seems that she will let me go. It took me a few months to get this job and i really enjoy it! I was asking for advice not criticism!!

You will be in even more debt if you get sacked or leave as you'll be sanctioned up to 26 weeks.

As has been pointed out, when those 3 other people left then why weren't you asking if you could take on their hours?

I didnt say i wish to give up my job because benefits are easier. Im saying it feels like a losing battle. I work the hardest i can, try to get more hours but there are a lot of p/t staff at the place i work so all the hours are split between us. The manager has now put an ad on the door asking for p/t staff, i know a few of the girls have complained asking cant they have the hours- me being one of them but she refuses. How can i live being minus in money every month, and there is no way of getting another job whilst working here. I may keep working hard whilst looking for another job, thats probably my best bet, but in 2 weeks i may have to claim jsa anyway, which i hope not! I have just had a look on my local jobcentre jobsearch but there isnt much available, especially with my qualifications (before anybody comments on me eing a high school drop out i have all of my gcses grade c-b and 2 as level grade b!)
