You seem to have missed the OP saying they wanted to copy some things to DVD, not just watch them once.

Right..but having them on iPlayer etc just isn't the same of having it on disc...Content's subject to becoming unavailable after a while, sometimes you have to sit through adverts, and it's rare you can get full HD. You also have to use several different bits of software to gather up content from the different broadcasters.

Much easier to just record the whole series in one click and have it on hdd when you want it, in high quality, for as long as you want it.
