defaults on my credit file

Hi
I started a DMP in Jan 2002 when I started having money problems ( I am currently looking at managing this myself)
I have done a credit report I didn't expect to have a very good score but I have found defaults on my file that I thought had gone in to default around 2002 at the time in started the DMP.

My questions are
Can I find out if I had any defaults from 2002 - 2005?

Can I have 2 defaults for the same debt if the debt had been sold to someone else? If not how can I find out if I have one that has 'fallen' off

Can I have a default for a debt that is under an arrangement?

Can a default be put on my file that I haven't received?

Many thanks in advance for any reply s :j

    Hi
I started a DMP in Jan 2002 when I started having money problems ( I am currently looking at managing this myself)
I have done a credit report I didn't expect to have a very good score but I have found defaults on my file that I thought had gone in to default around 2002 at the time in started the DMP.

    My questions are
Can I find out if I had any defaults from 2002 - 2005? no - not unless you have a copy of your credit file from that time you can refer back to. Or you could look back through paperwork for when your received default notices.

Can I have 2 defaults for the same debt if the debt had been sold to someone else? If not how can I find out if I have one that has 'fallen' off If a debt is sold the default must (should) stay the same date. ie creditor removes their entry and default, DCA adds their entry and should add the same default date as before. DCAs do sometimes add a later date such as the date they bought the debt - they shouldn't but do sometimes. if you can prove they have done this then write to them and they should correct.

Can I have a default for a debt that is under an arrangement? do you mean when they have agreed to your DMP reduced payment - if so yes. Or do you mean if there is also an arrangement to pay marker on your credit file.

Can a default be put on my file that I haven't received? Shouldn't be. Although a creditor only needs to prove they sent the default not that you received it (eg could have been lost in the postal system or could have been sent to an old address if you hadn't told them new address etc).

Many thanks in advance for any reply s :j

    Hi S-w

I can't help I'm afraid, I don't know about defaults... however didn't want to read and run and hopefully someone will be along soon to help you out. Good luck!
