You are probably right, but an insider told me they are going to treat dla same as esa and well we know enough genuinely ill are made to appeal and tribunal there to eventually hopefully win there, its just a nightmare being poorly nowadays, seems hospital consultants and doctors reports count for nothing.

Just that where as they used to respect the ill they now dont it seems.

Didnt mean to frighten anyone, always best being prepared i say :)

Until DLA changes to PIP ATOS won't play a major part. Non-one i know on DLA (myself included) has had to deal with ATOS for DLA yet. Not saying it won't happen but at the minute it doesn't seem to be as much of a problem, if you have the care/mobility needs hopefully your form along with supporting evidence will suffice.
ATOS do at least some, if not all of the DLA medicals, so if you haven't encountered them yet, you have been lucky.
  • I was never aware of this benefit until the Macmillan nurse mentioned it in passing and asked me to apply. I didn't have any problems in getting it awarded but maybe I was just lucky. Hope everything works out for you :) xxx

My son was awarded DLA 2 weeks after I applied several years ago, I let it lapse after the first year as we had a pretty good income so I could afford his SALT and other therapies. I reapplied 3 years ago when my marriage broke up as I couldn't afford the therapies then, again the application went through in just 2 weeks. I did his renewal last month and again he was awarded in 2 weeks, so for us, apart from filling out the long form which took me about a week off and on each time, it was straightforward and quick.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

I'm not worried about my son seeing ATOS when it is his turn - he has complex needs and plenty of medical evidence to back them up. If you take into account his learning difficulties (moderate to severe), double incontinence, lack of comprehensible speech, regular vomiting, breathing difficulties, constant pain on walking, list of medications, list of consultants for different needs..........

I'm just enjoying a quick coffee before getting him ready for school, after being up with him nine times last night :(. Usually it is only about four times :)

So when it comes to ATOS, I realise that nothing is guaranteed, but I think I will have a strong case for my son needing to continue receiving DLA, especially as I have support from several consultants.

We helped my son's girlfriend apply and there was no problem whatsoever. She did not have to have any sort of medical (although she did send a report from a medical professional with her application). I'm sure if you meet the criteria of needs and demonstrate this on the form (in other words don't just put things like 'same as last time' or 'arthritis'), then you should get what you are entitled to.

Im not worried about ATOS when DLA changes to PIP because I am severly disabled, I cant walk at all/stand or manually self propel my wheelchairs which mean that HRM is safe and I acctually need lots of help with personel care so that my HRC is safe.

The people who need worry are those that dont get the care they supposidly need, its daft the way it works now when you can get the cash but not get any help at all, that defies logic.
