my OH likes them warmed up with the canning liquid (must be an aquired taste) then a tin of stewed steak heated up and poured on top!. But, I prefer them drained and rinsed well then chopped up to use in either corned beef hash, spanish omelette or like another poster think they are perfect for potato salad (they dont break up like fresh potatoes do). Ive also used them to eke out a small amount of casserole or stew.

Had some on holiday chopped up a bit and mixed in mayonnaise to make potato salad - kids thought they were wonderful and asked for them every day!

I haven't eaten these for years but used to love them cut in half and grilled well- they firm up and get nice and chewy, sort of. Sounds weird but they were good.

Mmmm as a student I used to do them "chinese style"...tin of potatoes, chucked in a wok (like everything I ever cooked for a while lol) with a bit of olive oil, honey, five spice, soy sauce and a bit of extra garlic. Really quick and a bit different :) I may have also added a dash balsamic vinegar but can't remember for sure...

Haven't had it in a few years though, but tempted to try it again!

We used to use these when we were sailing quite a lot - I think it helps if you think of them as an entirely new veggie with its own taste. Personally I think sliced and fried is the way to go
