seriously stressed!!! moving home and buying the 'essentials'

Im in a private let at the minute and it was put on the market a couple of months ago and sold on the first viewing. I have been incredibly fortunate with my councils help, they have offered me a 3 bed house for me and the kids to move into, theyre currently fencing the drive as theres a drop down which wouldnt be safe with the kids, clearing out from the evicted tenants-worst job is theyre dealing with rats in the attic!!!!!
As you can imagine i have pretty much eveything we need, but what i dont have is a cooker as it was already here when we moved in, and the council rip all floor coverings out of the houses before reletting them. And my daughter doesnt have a wardrobe as we used a cupboard in her bedroom as one! So I have to buy those.
Problem is, my lease is up on friday, thats my rent day, now if i stay here past then im going to be incurring rent. The workmen i spoke to who are working on my new house said they're looking at up to 10-14 days before theyre finished, so that will take me halfway through a new months rent!!
I then have to pay rent here, carpet a new house and buy a cooker and wardrobe. then start paying rent on the new place. im just not sure how i can do it all, a friend i spoke to earlier said her house cost £1000 to carpet through!!!!!!!!!! i know in the house its a living room with small dining room, tiny entrance hall that goes straight upstairs and 3 bedrooms.
I currently have £100 in my savings account that was an extra payment from tax credits at the start of the new year, that i put away for when we were going to be moving. my parents have very kindly said whatever bond i get back from the private rent i can have to put towards carpets for the new house. Thing is i dont want to ask them to help anymore than that as i have a feeling that im going to need help paying for whatever divorce costs i incur that legal aid doesnt cover-i have no idea how much that is going to cost as yet, though my ex has signed the divorce papers without contesting them (well only to me lol).
im trying ebay/gumtree/preloved/freecycle for the things i need at the min, but my freecycle is full of wanteds constantly so i dont hold out much hope. there is a 2nd hand shop in town that sells cookers etc, so fingers crossed i can get one from them!
sorry, i really needed to vent as, despite being soooooo excited and happy to be moving somewhere me and the kids can make a home and settle properly, im stressing at the expense!!

I work full time and it has only been last year after being in this house for about 9 years that I was able to afford to carpet the stairs, landing, bedrooms and living room. In the meantime I managed with rugs which I bought from car boots and charity shops.
Somethings can wait...the cooker is a priority. Their are cheapish hanging rails in argos for hanging clothes up...http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8757049.htm
I bought my cooker, dual fuel from Comet for £225...end of line thingy, had a warranty on it so it may be worth looking there.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

2 things that jump out at me - the wardrobe can surely wait a few weeks, not ideal but living out of boxes for a month or so is better than struggling to buy one.
Freecycle - I ignore all the wanted posts (in fact outlook has a rule set to bin them lol) and just post anything I'm offering, so its always worth checking thru for the things you need as I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't bother with the wants but often has things to offer IYSWIM.0 -
ive just been looking at the clothes rails on ebay lol, will do for a few months!!! My cousin has a friend who apparently will give me a good deal on carpets and fitting so am gonna get a quote from him so i know what im looking at. am kicking myself as i saw a cooker on gumtree and the guy selling it was corgi registered and would install it too for a small fee-was a good price but ive gone back to look today and it's gone!!!0

Are you sure the council won't be recarpeting? It makes me mad around here that when clearing a house for sale the carpets are left if they are in good condition, when it's being returned to the council they need to be removed.
I've never bought new fitted carpets but you can get them a lot cheaper than that, although it's the sort of thing you get what you pay for.0 -
Shouldn't the council also be putting a cooker in? - I take it you are renting the new place?0
