No network access on laptop - please help

Options
DD's Samsung laptop is very nearly 1 year old and has been working perfectly since she got it - until now.
Whenever she tries to connect to the internet it says there is no network access - even though the signal strength is excellent!

I'm hoping this is a fairly easy 'fix' as I am not very techie.

You might need to disconnect from the router, and then reconnect, typing in the wireless access password.

Is there a physical wireless button on the laptop that might have been knocked into the "off" position?

Have just phoned the Samsung helpline as laptop is still under warranty.
They told me to right click the connection button, which I did, but as it took so long for anything to happen, they want me to do a complete restore then get back to them in 2 days if it still won't connect to the internet.

Hmm. Sounds rather like a PC World response, to reinstall everything, just in case... Oh, and make sure you reboot the Universe!

First thing if you havent allready is to restart the router and the laptop.
After restarting check the router had connected and the internet light is on depending on your router type.
Re-connect to the router via the laptop and if you still have no network access see if you can get to the routers config page.

I take it from what you said in the OP that it connects to the router but wont access the internet. Or does it tell you it cant connect to wireless network or no network available??

Also what security protocal you using , WEP, WPA?
