How do these "repair a damaged iphone" ebay services work?
Long story short, wife washed my iphone 4 in my jeans. Hooray.
Aaannnyway, I've been on eBay and there are plenty of sellers offering services that effectively replace your iphone that is damaged with a new one, subject to it being a certain IMEI code. What's the scam?

It will be the serial number they want to confirm it's in warranty which it will be as iphone4 was only released last June.
They send it off to Apple for replacement I'm not sure how they get away with it tho.
If you take it in to Apple they will charge £140 and give you another iphone4.0
