Hey,
Why not think about approaching you local St John Ambulance unit? In london we train all the CFRs provide them with kit & uniform.
Im not sure what SJA wales is like but if its anything like us we have loads of defibs/O2 cylinders sitting unused in the various units which could be availible for CFRs?
Otherwise try sponsorship events - if you devolve money making to other individuals then you always get more - running a ticketed event for £30 each is a big ask, but asking a runner to raise £30 is almost nothing?
A sponsored cahrity event would also help highlight you guy's great work in you area
thanks, i will look into it
hhmm fancy sending us one of your defibs that are sitting unused

I think what you are doing is fantastic and absolutely take my hat off to you and your fellow volunteers - but am I only one who is really shocked that you have to fund raise for this equipment yourself to provide a service that I thought was provided by the NHS ???????
As for fundraising are there local craft fayres / summer fetes etc. that would let you have a discounted / free stall at their event to promote your service? If so then a simple tombola or similar could raise funds, as well as having a donation bucket and bringing you publicity. One that's popular at our school is a 'Water or Wine' lucky dip. You pay £1 and get to pick a bottle bag with a bottle of wine in it - only one in about 10 bags though are acual bottles of wine, the rest are filled with water and screwed up again (you obviously need lots of empty screw top bottles but that never seems to be a problem :rotfl:).
Also how about enlising the support of your local newspaper - again it promotes what you do and may attract sponsorship from local people / companies. Good luck xx0 -

thankyou for your ideas
yes we have 2 purchase defibrillators (we will need 2 for our team and they are approx £900 each, also we have to purchase our own kit bags, we are however provided the following by the ambulance crews - oxygen cylinders, masks, opa's, gloves, suction kit, bag valve masks, once we use what we've got we swap old for new with the ambulance crews
we are currently waiting 4 a date for us to have photographs taken for our local papers, fingers crossed it will be soon 0 -
I helped my local first responders raise money, at one point I sponsored one of their vehicles (a car that had been donated) so I paid for the insurance and had my logo splashed all over the car.
We used to do charity car washes in conjunction with the local fire brigade and any monies raised were divided equally between the Fire Service Benevolent Fund and FastAid. Car washing can be fun and hard work - I can remember when a chap in a Ferrari pulled up and allowed us to clean his precious car..he gave us £20.
We also did a street collection at a local carnival - we raised a fair bit of money that day because the weather was awful and people felt sorry for us.
My local team would also sell raffle tickets (proper printed ones) and raffle off items that had been donated - sometimes local supermarkets would donate hampers of food. The raffle would take place at a school fete or other local event where money was being raised for FastAid.0 -
